Pressuring someone to quit may only push them further away from the idea. However, if approached correctly, they may be more open to your thoughts and feelings about why they should quit tobacco.
Tips that Motivate and Encourage Someone to Quit:
|Never judge or nag. Instead, let them know you are there for encouragement and support if and when they need it.|
|Never criticize a lack of willpower. Always remember that nicotine is extremely addicting.|
|Be understanding of how difficult it can be to quit but remind them that it is not impossible. In fact, there are more former smokers than current smokers in Florida.|
